The short version

Speafy subscriptions are non-refundable as a general rule. Refunds are available only in specific circumstances — accidental or duplicate charges, confirmed charges after a valid cancellation, significant verified technical failure, permanent service discontinuation, or where required by applicable law. If you believe you qualify, email support@speafy.com and we will review your request within 2 business days.

Our Merchant of Record — Paddle

Speafy uses Paddle.com Market Limited as our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record for all paid subscriptions. This means:

  • Paddle processes your payment and appears on your bank or card statement (usually as "Paddle.com* Speafy" or similar).
  • Your purchase contract is with Paddle, subject to Paddle's Buyer Terms.
  • Refunds are issued by Paddle on our instruction. When you contact us, we authorise the refund and Paddle returns the funds to your original payment method.
  • For billing disputes or chargebacks, Paddle's support team can also assist you directly at paddle.com/support.

Speafy remains fully responsible for the service you receive and for honouring this refund policy. Paddle's involvement is limited to payment processing.

Free trial

Speafy offers a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No payment information is required to start the trial.

You will only be charged if you choose to subscribe after the trial ends. If you do not subscribe, your account remains active but access to premium features is paused — you are never charged automatically.

Because no payment is taken during the trial, refunds do not apply to the trial period.

Refund eligibility

Speafy subscriptions are non-refundable except in the specific circumstances listed below.

Eligible for refund
  • Accidental or duplicate charge, reported within 60 days of the charge
  • Charge confirmed to have occurred after a valid cancellation was processed, reported within 60 days
  • Significant verified technical failure that prevented access to the service
  • Permanent discontinuation of the service by Speafy (pro-rata refund for unused portion of current billing period)
  • EU or UK statutory right of withdrawal — within 14 days of first purchase, where the service has not been used (see below)
  • Exceptional circumstances at our discretion (see Section 7)
Not eligible for refund
  • Change of mind or dissatisfaction with the service
  • Failure to use the service during a paid period
  • Renewal charges where cancellation was not submitted before the renewal date
  • Partial periods — subscriptions (monthly or annual) are not pro-rated on cancellation; you retain access until the end of the paid period
  • Renewal charges following a previously refunded period

EU and UK users — statutory right of withdrawal: If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of your first subscription payment. However, by actively using Speafy during this period — including accessing any lesson, flashcard, or AI tutor feature — you expressly acknowledge that you have requested immediate performance of the service and that your right of withdrawal is thereby waived. If you have not used the service at all within the 14-day period, you may withdraw and receive a full refund by contacting us at support@speafy.com.

We review every request individually. If your situation does not fit neatly into the above, please reach out — we will do our best to find a fair resolution.

How to request a refund

Refunds can be requested in two ways:

Contact Speafy directly (preferred)
Email us at support@speafy.com with the subject line "Refund request". Include the email address on your Speafy account and, if available, your Paddle order reference (found in your payment confirmation email). We will review your request and respond within 2 business days.
Contact Paddle directly
If you cannot reach us, Paddle's buyer support team at paddle.com/support can process a refund for eligible transactions. Quote your order reference from your payment confirmation email.

Processing times

Once a refund is approved:

  • Speafy review: Within 2 business days of receiving your request.
  • Paddle processing: Refunds are typically issued within 5–10 business days, depending on your payment method and bank.
  • Credit card refunds appear on your statement within 5–10 business days after Paddle issues the refund.

You will receive a confirmation email from Paddle when the refund has been issued. If you do not receive this email within 3 business days of our approval, please contact us again.

Cancellation

You can cancel your Speafy subscription at any time from the Settings screen inside the app, or by emailing support@speafy.com.

When you cancel:

  • You retain full access to Speafy until the end of your current billing period.
  • You will not be charged again after cancellation.
  • Your account and learning progress are preserved. If you re-subscribe later, you continue exactly where you left off.

Cancellation is separate from a refund. Cancelling stops future charges but does not automatically refund any previous charge. If you also want a refund for a recent eligible charge, please follow the steps in Section 4 above.

Exceptional circumstances

We recognise that situations arise that fall outside the standard rules. We consider refunds on a case-by-case basis in circumstances including but not limited to:

  • Extended service outages that substantially impaired your use of Speafy.
  • Charges resulting from unauthorised access to your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, please secure your account immediately (change your Speafy password if you use email sign-in, or secure your Google account if you use Google Sign-In) and contact us at support@speafy.com.
  • Serious illness or bereavement that prevented you from submitting a request within the standard window.

In all exceptional cases, please email support@speafy.com with a brief description of your situation. We treat every request with care and aim to respond within 2 business days.
